'Motherly' Sreerupa Bose Mukherjee passes away from cardiac arrest

Former India women's cricket team coach and batswoman Sreerupa Bose Mukherjee, 66, passed away yesterday after a cardiac arrest at her home in Kolkata


Former India women's cricket team coach and batswoman Sreerupa Bose Mukherjee, 66, passed away yesterday after a cardiac arrest at her home in Kolkata. Sreerupa played two ODIs and coached India in the 1993, 1997 and 2000 World Cups. She collapsed in the washroom and was rushed to a hospital where she was declared dead.

Former India cricketer and teammate Shobha Pandit called Sreerupa a loving mother and a helpful friend, "Sreerupadi was a motherly figure for the West Bengal team. I was associated with her right from the second Nationals which were played in Banaras in 1974. She was a true leader, a loving mother and a helpful friend to one and all. We will miss her," said Shobha.
