BBG Sports, who have been supplying Hot Spot cameras for the UDRS (Umpires Decision Review System) have informed the Indian cricket board that the Australian company has bought two new cameras to improve the technology, according to Warren Bennan, the BBG Sports' Director. Bennan said: "BBG hopes it gets invited to bring Hot Spot to India for their home series in Oct-Nov 2011. BBG has already been in contact with Indian broadcaster Nimbus and has advised them that two more Hot Spot cameras are available for a home series.
Nimbus has informed BBG that this will be a BCCI decision."
The Indian cricket board has so far been reluctant to use UDRS. The system will not be in use in the forthcoming Test and ODI series in England.
"BBG will have a total of six cameras. Four are currently in the UK for the England 2011 home series (against Sri Lanka). And the two new cameras will be at our office in Melbourne.
"Two extra cameras will allow us provide Hot Spot to additional countries from the middle of 2011", he said.
"BBG have always tried to be pro-active in relation to getting DRS accepted into as many countries as possible.
"BBG therefore is continuing to invest considerable amounts of money into improving the Hot Spot system.
These new cameras will have much faster frame rates and improved optics," he added.
"Putting all of the above information into perspective, BBG is hopeful that the Indian cricket team would have another few series over the next seven to eight months to evaluate the full DRS suite of technology," Bennan hoped.
The home series include:
India vs England (five ODIs) and West Indies (three Tests and five ODIs) ufffd Oct-Nov 2011.
