Pig at the Gabba draws worldwide attention

The pig named Ash which was brought to the Gabba in Brisbane during the first Ashes Test has been moved to a pen next to two other pigs and has started eating and walking around, according to Michael Beatty, spokesman at the Media And Community Relations, RSPCA Queensland.

Beatty said, "We have been flooded with calls and e-mails from all over the world inquiring about the health of Ash who was smuggled into the Gabba during the first Test. We're hoping he'll make a full recovery.

"The pig is still very stressed but is starting to recover. He was brought into the ground as a joke but they taped his mouth and he could not breath
properly. The accused faces charges of cruelty to animals and will probably be fined at least a thousand dollars.

"Australia is an animal loving country. A pig was brought to the ground in the 80s but it was released on the pitch after being smuggled in a cooler. Almost all the calls and e-mails that we received have expressed outrage over the incident."u00a0
