One genius deserves another, they say. Legendary actor Dilip Kumar has waxed eloquent on India's batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar in Sach, a book in Bengali, written by Kolkata-based journalist Gautam Bhattacharya, who has been reporting on Tendulkar even before he played for India in 1989.
"At times, when I am watching him bat, I don't let anything come between him and me," writes Dilip Kumar. He feels that Tendulkar is at his best: "I have watched him play in recent times and I can see that he is getting more committed to the sport and more perfect in his batting. The keenness, spirit and grit are only increasing with each match and each passing year."
Dilip Kumar is no ordinary Tendulkar fan. His observations have depth: "I don't think he (Sachin) has ever gone on the field without preparation, which includes a sensitive awareness of the opposing team's strengths and weakness. You can easily sense the intense preparedness especially when he is facing a Shane Warne or a Shoaib Akhtar. He radiates electrifying energy with a gracefulness that is God's gift to him."
