Virender Sehwag became a father for the second time and it was mate Gautam Gambhir who spread the word in Barbados Congratulations: Virender Sehwag became a father for the second time yesterday.
Timing has never been a problem with Virender Sehwag and he seems to have got it right this time too. The dashing opener, who is recuperating from a shoulder injury, became a father for the second time when wife Arti delivered their second son yesterday. Both mother and baby are in good condition. Sehwag also messaged his teammates and good friend Gautam Gambhir was spreading the news around yesterday. The arrival of another son will surely help Sehwag overcome the disappointment of missing out on another World Twenty20 after he could not play a single game in last year's edition, also due to a shoulder injury.
Luggage travails
The Indian team is not having problems on the field in the World Twenty20 having registered easy wins against Afghanistan and South Africa. But off it, they are surely not having the best of times.
Lait Airlines misplaced their luggage when they were travelling from St Lucia to Barbados and they only got their bags back late on Monday evening. All the West Indian airlines are famous for misplacing luggage and Ravi Shastri also had to bear the brunt.
The former India all-rounder, who is here on commentary duty, even paid an extra 60 USD to carry two bags since Lait Airlines allows only one hand baggage. And he ended up without any of his bags when he landed!
Taking it easy
Yesterday, the Indian team took it easy and opted for an optional practice session after arriving in Barbados on Monday.
Yusuf Pathan, Suresh Raina, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, R Vinay Kumar and Gautam Gambhir opted for the practice session and apart from a net session, also concentrated hard on fielding with the entire support staff helping them out.
Gambhir, who did not feature in the game against South Africa due to a stomach flu, seemed to have recovered and headed straight for the nets where he had a good batting session.
It is believed that the team will resume intense practice sessions from today.
Will Bhajji open?
The Indian team was busy planning their strategies for their games in Barbados and they are looking at the possibility of opening the bowling with Harbhajan Singh, In recent times, a lot of teams have opted to open the bowling with spinners not just in the Indian Premier League but also in T20 internationals. The idea is to take the pace of the ball and also capitalise on the inability of several opener's at playing spin as well as pace. But the team think-tank is likely to take a final decision only after seeing how the pitch behaves during the Australia-Bangladesh game today.
