Niranjan Shah, the Indian cricket team's administrative manager for the limited overs leg of the New Zealand tour has hit back at the Kiwi journalist who called him a "travelling goon."

Shah, who returned this morning from New Zealand along with India's limited overs specialists Suresh Raina, Yousuf Pathan, Praveen Kumar, Rohit Sharma and Pragyan Ojha, told MiD DAY: "I have been informed about this article which appeared in a New Zealand newspaper. All I can say is that I am not affected by such comments made by a goon himself."

The former BCCI secretary who is also the vice-chairman of the Indian Premier League attracted the wrath of the media when he supported the Board's reported threat of pulling out Ravi Shastri (a member of the IPL governing council) from Sky Sports' commentary team if the Indian Cricket League player Craig McMillan was given a commentary assignment for India's Test series in New Zealand.

When asked about the BCCI's ridiculous threat, Shah said, "Look, we don't want to create obstacles for anyone. All we are saying is that we will not be associated with anything (which has an ICL presence). This is the Board's stance."
