It is learnt Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) president Sharad Pawar is the likely candidate the BCCI will nominate in today's Annual General Meeting.
If not Pawar, BCCI president Shashank Manohar could fill the big seat.
The term of the ICC chairman is till the annual meeting of the world governing body which will be held in 2016.
There will also be only a couple of changes in the senior selection committee. Roger Binny is sure to be replaced due to the conflict of interest issue with his son Stuart being part of the Indian team.
It is learnt, Dilip Vengsarkar, who was touted as a candidate for the selection chairman's post, was asked to resign as MCA vice-president if he is keen on the selectorial post.
However, the former India skipper refused to resign from MCA. Meanwhile, the fourth and final Test between India and SA will be shifted from New Delhi. Mumbai and Kanpur are frontrunners for the match.
