A managing committee member told MiD DAY: "Pawar is going to contest the elections for the president's post. We all need him and we have urged him to continue. Thankfully, he has agreed."
There was speculation that the Nationalist Congress Party chief might not stand elections and instead will be the chief patron of MCA.
However, the source said Pawar is very much needed as president. "We need him because there an important project is going on at Kandivli. Without his support its completion will not be possible. He is the only man who can help accomplish it," added the source.
The MCA is coming up with a project in Kandivli (West) similar to its Bandra Kurla Complex facility.
