Going back to his opening position, Sehwag slammed a 20-ball 48 studded with seven fours and two sixes against Mumbai Customs at the Dr DY Patil University ground, Nerul. However, the match ended in a thrilling tie as Mumbai Customs managed to restrict CAG to 184 in 20 overs.
Sehwag, who is going through one of the toughest phases of his international career, found everything going for him yesterday. His timing was as good as perfect and his confidence seemed to get better with every delivery.
After a poor Ranji Trophy season in which he scored just 234 runs in 13 innings for Delhi, yesterday's knock must have been a fillip for Sehwag. Sehwag made his intentions clear when he took Mumbai Customs' Atish Gawand to the cleaners, slamming four consecutive boundaries in only the second over of the match.
Thanks to Sehwag's fireworks, CAG put on 50 runs within 30 minutes. Just when Sehwag looked to get more momentum in his innings, 19-year-old left-arm spinner Alpesh Ramjani, who claimed three wickets, managed to beat his bat and the 28-minute entertaining knock came to an end.
Although he missed out on a half-century, the satisfaction was quite evident on Sehwag's face. The DY Patil Stadium has been a happy hunting ground for Sehwag. His 83 off 36 balls and 100 in 33 balls for Oil & Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) during the 2008 edition of this tournament played a pivotal role in him getting back to form.
The Delhi dasher, who last played international cricket in March 2013, would certainly hope for a change in fortunes after yesterday's performance.
