The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) seems to have mellowed down as talks of wooing back Sahara Group as the main sponsor and retaining IPL franchise Pune Warriors have started in an amicable manner. While the Board is trying its best to appease its sponsor, Sahara is buying time.
"Few officials, including Indian Premier League chairman Rajeev Shukla, have spoken to Sahara Group chief and our boss is weighing options," a Sahara source told MiD DAY yesterday.
It is understood that the BCCI mandarins are on war footing to resolve the matter at the earliest. "BCCI wanted a discussion today only, but the meeting couldn't take place and is scheduled for tomorrow (Tuesday) where BCCI president N Srinivasan will have a one-on-one with Subroto Roy. We hope the discussion will be fruitful," the official said.
On whether Sahara boss is interested in renewing the relationship, the official answered in the affirmative.u00a0u00a0 "If quitting was the motto, we could have done that long ago. We just wanted to be heard and BCCI was not ready to give us a patient hearing till date. After meeting the Board president and office-bearers tomorrow, our chairman is expected to take a decision on the spot," the official added.
