New kids on the block BD Somani International School, (Colaba) made their MSSA inter-school football debut in style yesterday as they beat IES (Bandra) 6-0 in an U-16 league match at Azad Maidan.

The school that opened only last year, missed out on taking part then as they were late in submitting their entry. The ICSE school mostly comprises students who have friends, brothers or other relatives in the neighbouring schools like Campion, Cathedral and John Canon, etc. The boys are thus eager to prove a point against their rival neighbours.

Dhruv Kasliwal scored a hat-trick despite missing a penalty earlier on while Rayaan Patel, Harsh Kapadia and Shanay Patel completed the tally.

Dhruv was thrilled over his maiden achievement. "Since it was our first match, we took time to settle. But I'm glad I scored," he said. Coach Jeffery Campus however warned: "Our boys must realise that they lack in experience and this was a fairly easy opponent."
