The narrow win over South Africa might have brought some joy to England skipper Andrew Strauss, but the smiles have quickly given way to creases on the forehead

The narrow win over South Africa might have brought some joy to England skipper Andrew Strauss, but the smiles have quickly given way to creases on the forehead.

Tension kya? England skipper Andrew Strauss

Yesterday, Strauss was sweating over the second injury blow to the team in as many days, with Stuart Broad, who played a key role in England's recent victory over the Proteas, being ruled out of the World Cup with a side strain.

Broad is the second key player after star batsman Kevin Pietersen, who has already flown back home to undergo a hernia operation, to join the casualty list

The right-arm seamer was ruled out of the rest of the tournament due to a side strain he picked up during his four-wicket haul in England's six-run win in Chennai on Sunday.

The ECB's chief medical officer Nick Peirce said the side strain was a new problem for Broad, who suffered an abdominal injury during the Ashes tour of Australia, which caused him to miss the last three Tests.
