India's training session will shift to Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) after the practice wickets at the ANZ Stadium here were damp and not suitable to bat on.

The Indian team was scheduled to train on the newly-laid practice wickets at the corner of the ground.

However, due to persistent rain the wickets were still damp and not conducive to batting.

The ANZ Stadium is located 20km from Sydney city and hosted the Olympics Games back in 2000. The ground is currently used for rugby matches over the winter so the wickets have to be dropped in for the cricket season.

Groundsman Perry said, "These are drop in pitches and they require the sun to dry them out, but unfortunately, the weather has not been kind to us."

Australia take on India in the first T20 at the ANZ Stadium tomorrow.
