In a rather generous gesture, Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Sachin Tendulkar, after being declared the man-of-the-match, preferred to hand over the honour to teammate Ambati Rayudu, who top-scored for MI with 63 not out. When presenter Robin Jackman announced Tendulkar's name at the post-match ceremony for his well-made 55 not out, the Little Master took Rayudu along and pushed him ahead to receive the award.

Jackman eventually presented the award to both players.
