Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar will be awarded with the Polly Umrigar Trophy for being the best cricketer during the 2009-10 season, the Indian cricket board said on Saturday.
During the 2009-10 season, Tendulkar scored 1064 runs, including five hundreds and a double ton, from 10 Tests at an average of 82. In 12 ODIs during that period, Tendulkar scored 695 runs at an average of 69.5.
Last year he also became the first to score a double hundred in ODIs, against South Africa at Gwalior in February. He also scored 175 in an ODI against Australia at Hyderabad.
Tendulkar will receive a trophy and cheque for Rs.5,00,000.
The trophy will be given to Tendulkar at the fourth Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) Awards that will be held May 31, when the World Cup winning team will also be felicitated.
