Chelsea captain John Terry has vowed to wipe away the memory of the penalty miss that cost his club the Champions League trophy last season.

Terry missed a crucial spot-kick in the Moscow final shoot-out against Manchester United, allowing Alex Ferguson's men to escape with the title. And as Terry prepares to lead out his men against Liverpool tonight in this season's quarter-final first leg at Anfield, the desire to replace pain with joy burns intensely in the England captain.

He said: "I'm very determined to go the extra step this year and win the trophy. That burning (disappointment) I suffered last year will live with me forever. The one way I can make that pain ease a little bit is to win this trophy. I can do that with the manager we have in charge this season."

As for tonight's clash Terryu00a0 said: "Their (Livepool) fans will play a big part, but we have learnt to deal with that. It was intimidating the first few times, but now we know what to expect and we know how to go out and do the business in this stadium."
