The scorching heat was almost getting onto the Lankan players who had a rigorous training session at Wankhede Stadium yesterday. However, Sri Lanka's Thisara Perera seemed to have a blissful time when he saw a Labrador, a type of gun dog, with the Police squad. He spent nearly half-an-hour with the Lab after his training session. Perera was quite impressed seeing the dog respond efficiently to the cops' commands. Perera was overwhelmed after spending time with the Lab. "I love Labradors. I have six of them back home. I was missing them, but I was happy to spend some time with the Lab here," Perera told MiD DAY.
Mallya wants fit Dilshan for IPLVijay Mallya made a surprise visit when the Sri Lankan team was practising under lights at Wankhede Stadium yesterday. The liquor baron, who was accompanied with BCCI Chief Administrative Officer and World Cup tournament director Prof Ratnakar Shetty, was keen to checkout his corporate box at the revamped stadium.
He seemed quite impressed with the facelift the stadium had got.
He also met Sri Lanka's Tillakaratne Dilshan and urged him to remain fit for the Indian Premier League (IPL), which kicks off on April 8, six days after the World Cup final. Dilshan was bought by Mallya's Royal Challengers Bangalore for $650,000 during the IPL IV auction.
