Torres promises more goals for Blues after firing Chelsea to 6-1 win over QPR

Fernando Torres, who has struggled for much of his 15 months at Chelsea since his British record £50 million ($81 million) move from Liverpool, netted a hat-trick in Chelsea's 6-1 thrashing of QPR at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

The Spaniard added to his goal against Barcelona in the Champions League with three more smart finishes to boost Chelsea's hopes of a top-four finish. But he insisted he had played better earlier in the campaign when he was not scoring.

"In the past I was feeling very good, very sharp, playing well, but I couldn't score," Torres told Sky Sports 1.u00a0"Now I feel I'm not playing as well as before, but I am scoring goals which is the important thing for the strikers."

Chelsea got off to a flying start with Daniel Sturridge opening the scoring after 46 seconds, while John Terry and Florent Malouda were also on target. Djibril Cisse scored a consolation for QPR.

Torres added: "We knew we needed to finish in the top four and win all the games for rest of the season. "I am very happy with three (goals), hopefully the first of many, but the more important thing for me is the team looks like they are playing their best football of the season with important games to come."
