Tottenham swept to their biggest win over Liverpool for 48 years as Luka Modric inspired a 4-0 victory over the nine-man visitors at White Hart Lane yesterday. Modric opened the scoring with a stunning strike early in the first half.

Charlie Adam and Martin Skrtel were sent off for second bookings either side of half-time and Spurs took full advantage as Jermain Defoe increased their lead before Togo striker Emmanuel Adebayor netted twice on his home debut.
