Trolls target journalist Barkha Dutt and even former India opener Virender Sehwag over his tweet about Paralympic gold medallist Mariyappan's mother
Former India opener Virender Sehwag took to Twitter on Monday in what seemed to be serious mood. The usual light-hearted tweets was replaced by a motivational one about how Paralympics gold medallist Mariyappan Thangavelu's mother was the perfect example to show why poverty was no excuse for becoming a terrorist.
While poverty is used as an excuse for people being led astray and being brainwashed to take up arms, especially in Kashmir. But the former Indian cricketer clearly doesn't believe that poverty can't be the reason for for someone picking up a gun.
'The Nawab of Twiter' cited the example of mother of Rio gold medallist Paralympian, Mariyappan to expalin his stand.
"Saroja, mother of Mariyappan is a vegetable seller,it's a slap on ppl givng excuse of family condtn fr picking up gun," Sehwag tweeted.
Mariyappan had became only the third Indian ever to clinch a gold medal in the Paralympics. He will be the country's flag-bearer at the closing ceremony of the Rio Games on September 18.
"Thangavelu Mariyappan will take lead as the flag bearer of the closing ceremony at the Paralympic Games 2016!," the Indian Olympic Association tweeted from its official handle.
Mariyappan, who was merely five-years-old when his right leg was crushed by a speeding bus, joined Murlikant Petkar (1972, swimming) and Devendra Jhajharia (2004, javelin throw) in the Indian Paralympics gold club. Mariyappan won the yellow metal in the T-42 High Jump event with a best effort of 1.89m, leaving behind world champion Sam Grewe of the USA who registered 1.86m. The T-42 classification is for athletes with lower limb deficiency, leg length difference, impaired muscle power or impaired range of movement.
Well, Sehwag's tweet got him involuntarily admitted into the RSS as a pracharak and the same trolls also somehow dragged journalist Barkha Dutt into the conversation. The trolls described her as being 'anti-national'.
Some people though just found the message inspirational
This is what one guy had to say about the post
And this is how Barkha Dutt responded
Here are some others trolling the journalist
And there were those who felt Viru had joined the ranks of RSS based on his tweet.
