Top seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga outclassed Uzbek Denis Istomin yesterday to complete a triumphant second round for France at the SA Tennis Open.
Fifth seed Jeremy Chardy and qualifier Sebastien de Chaunac also advanced to the last eight to guarantee a French presence in the semi-final.
Tsonga won 6-1, 6-4 in just under one hour after receiving a rapturous welcome from a centre-court crowd that has fallen in love with the Muhammad Ali-look-alike.
"I played well against an opponent who was not easy to overcome and I'm finding no problem with the altitude.
Kristof has been in the top 30 and will be a difficult challenge," said Tsonga.
