Former Maharashtra chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh is all geared up to file his nomination for the president's post against former India batsman Dilip Vengsarkar for the July 15 Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) polls on the final day today.

Just like Sharad Pawar, Deshmukh could be challenged for declaring Latur as his official address in the Rajya Sabha. As per the MCA constitution, one has to be a permanent resident of Greater Mumbai or Thane district.

However, a Deshmukh supporter told MiD DAY: "Deshmukh's lawyer has suggested that he can contest as his Indian passport has Mumbai address. He has a ration card and all other valid documents to prove that he resides in Mumbai."

Deshmukh has a condition, his supporter revealed. "He wants Lalchand Rajput and Shah Alam to be in the team if he wins."

Meanwhile, Prof Ratnakar Shetty and Ashish Shellar will contest for the vice-president's post. MCA's former vice-president Ravi Sawant will contest for the treasurer's post while Dr PV Shetty and Nitin Dalal will stand for the joint secretary post.
