Among the cricket supporters at the pavilion end was Bollywood actor Vinod Khanna, a hardcore cricket fan, we learn

Khanna couldn't sit through the whole match since he had other commitments. BCCI officials Sanjay Jagdale, Prof Ratnakar Shetty and former India women's team captain Diana Edulji were seen enjoying the final.

Noble gesture
The Australians were seen wearing black armbands while stretching every sinew against the West Indies at Brabourne Stadium last night.

"Our security manager Stephen Frost's mother passed away last week and he had to go back home. So, out of respect for the personal loss the team decided to sport armbands," said a team official. Noble gesture that!

Vocal support
The Churchgate end of the Brabourne Stadium saw almost 5000 people in attendance to watch the final. There was more support for the West Indies in the stands and many were heard shouting, ‘go West Indies go'. A few Australian supporters were particularly keen on Indian-origin player Lisa Sthalekar doing well. But they also cheered for skipper Jodie Fields and all-rounder Ellyse Perry.u00a0

Afghans have Test aspirations
Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) chairman Shahzada Massoud is confident that they will become a Test-playing nation in five to six years' time. "The International Cricket Council (ICC) promised us to make us an associate member by June, but our main focus is to qualify for the 2015 World Cup. I am sure we will become a Test-playing nation in the next five to six years," said Massoud.
