Continuing his verbal spat with Shane Watson, the West Indies skipper Chris Gayle on Wednesday described the Australian all-rounder as "soft" and someone who can be provoked easily.

Watson had justified his wild celebration on dismissing Gayle in the third Test, saying the batsman had been baiting him so he was excited after taking his wicket.

Watson was fined 15 per cent of his match fee over the incident but did not regret his conduct.

"He said I bait him. You asked me the question earlier if I catch fish, maybe I might use him as a bait to catch a fish. He's so easy to get wound up over silly things. Yeah he's soft. He only looks big and strong but he's soft," Gayle was quoted as saying by the Daily Telegraph.

Gayle had on Tuesday said that he did not expect anything better from Watson, who was even criticised by his skipper Ricky Ponting and other cricket experts.

The third Test was full of sparks as Brad Haddin and Mitchell Johnson were also fined while West Indies spinner Sulieman Benn was banned for two one-dayers after failing to maintain decorum on the field. Australia won the Test series 2-0.
