Delhi Daredevils have their backs to the wall as far as their record against Mumbai Indians is concerned. Not only do Harbhajan Singh's men lead the head-to-head tally 5-3, Virender Sehwag's team has never managed to win an Indian Premier League (IPL) match in Mumbai's den in all the previous editions.
So far, Mumbai Indians have dominated all the battles, winning them convincingly. In the last IPL, Delhi Daredevils lost by 32 runs at the Wankhede Stadium. In 2010, they suffered a crushing 39-run defeat in the Brabourne Stadium and by 29 runs at the DY Patil Stadium in 2008.u00a0However, Delhi would be eager to break the jinx and set the record straight against Mumbai Indians when they square up at the Wankhede Stadium in IPL-V tonight.
TA Sekar, Delhi Daredevils head of cricket, told MiD DAY that his side are aiming for a favourable outcome. "We are keen to do well against Mumbai Indians here. The team is confident after beating Chennai Super Kings. No one plays to lose. We are aiming to get our first win here. But T20 is such a format that it is difficult to judge the outcome," said Sekar.u00a0"As far as the record is concerned, they are meant to be broken. We will definitely aim to win against Mumbai Indians," added Sekar on the match eve.
Delhi's big test
Earlier, talking to the reporters, Sekar reckoned it will be a big test for Delhi Daredevils in this IPL so far. "It is certainly a big test playing against Mumbai Indians. They are the Champions League T20 winners. Mumbai and Chennai are better teams in the IPL. So, it is important to do well against them," said Sekar, who was till last season was involved with the Mumbai Indians for two years before switching back to Delhi.u00a0"I didn't build the Mumbai Indians team. It is the players who have done well. I was just a part in the running their cricket. I used to give suggestions which I am glad the team management accepted," Sekar concluded.
