The Dutch midfielder got himself on the score-sheet twice, first to equalise after Theo Walcott's opener, and then to score his side's third from the penalty spot as Harry Redknapp's men dented Arsenal's title aspirations at White Hart Lane.
In what was an incredibly open affair, Van der Vaart praised the role the home crowd played in getting the side back into the game.
"I think it was a great game, the crowd were fantastic," he told Sky Sports. "We played a great game against one of the best teams in the league so we can be happy with 3-3."
"It was an open game and both teams wanted to win, and that's why there was lots of space.
"We had a few good chances in the second half, Modric in particular, so we could have won."
