After posting 207-9 on the board, West Indies bowled out the Kiwis for 159 in 44.3 overs. Pacer Tremayne Smartt (3-39) was the pick of the Windies bowlers, while Deandra Dottin 2-11 and spinner Anisa Mohammed 1-13, also made things tougher for the Kiwis. Anisa was adjudged Player of the Match for her unbeaten 31 towards the end of the innings, besides her bowling effort.
West Indies pace spearhead Smartt bowled an effective first spell of 7-0-26-3. She claimed the wickets of Frances Mackay (4) and Sarah McGlashan (18) early in the innings. However, Sophie Devine (9) - her third victim - was unlucky to get a leg-before decision.
All praise for Anisa
WI skipper Merissa Aguilleira was all praise for Anisa. "It was pleasing to see the other players stepping up when it mattered. Anisa deserves a special mention. She did exactly what the team needed. I am pleased with her all-round effort," said Aguilleira.
