The history of cricket is sprinkled with instances of fast bowlers clashing with their captains just like Johnson not hitting it off with Clarke. Here are a few Australian examples:

Yallop vs Hogg

Graham Yallop, who captained Australia in the 1978-79 Ashes found paceman Rodney Hogg difficult to handle. In the Adelaide Test of that series, Hogg walked off to the dressing room to get treatment for an injury without Yallop knowing. Naturally, the captain threw a fit and Hogg responded by saying he was ready for physical scrap behind the dressing room.

Border vs McDermott

When Craig McDermott was having problems with his run-up during the 1993 tour of England, captain Allan Border fielding near McDermott's bowling mark yelled out his displeasure which McDermott pretended not to hear. Border got more audible: "Hey, I'm f'''ing talking to you. Come here, come here, come here, come here." McDermott just glanced at his skipper, who went on to say, "Do that again you will be on the next plane home."

Lillee vs Hughes

Dennis Lillee did not welcome Kim Hughes' appointment as caretaker captain whenever Greg Chappell was not available. He is believed to have bowled bouncers to hurt Hughes in the nets. Lillee wanted to see his mate Rodney Marsh as captain.
