Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist said he was prepared for an end to the team's winning spree

Not really shattered after his side succumbed to their first defeat in theu00a0 Indian Premier League against Delhi Daredevils yesterday, Deccan Chargers captain Adam Gilchrist said he was prepared for an end to the team's winning spree.

"I have played for Australia in World Cups where we have won matches on the trot. It had to happen and it has happened today and that's the reality," Gilchrist said after the Deccan Chargers' six-wicket loss to the Daredevils. "We didn't post enough on the board. Kept fighting till the end but runs were not enough."

Gilchrist said loss of early wickets put his side on the back foot and it could never really recover from his and fellow opener Herschelle Gibbs quick dismissals. "Any wickets early on puts the team on the back foot. They did well to restrict us. We were 20 runs short. What we managed was definitely not enough," he said.

Winning captain Virender Sehwag said he was happy with his team's effort. "I think I am pretty happy with the performance. The pitch was good to bat on and we did a good job."
