Chennai: Pakistan opener Javeria Khan is in hospital in Chennai after being struck on the jaw while batting in her side's World Twenty20 defeat to the West Indies on Wednesday.

Khan was struck underneath the grille of the helmet by Shamilia Connell and was stretchered off the pitch before being taken to the nearby Apollo Hospital.

"Javeria has been treated, and she is now being kept under observation as per the hospital's procedures," a Pakistan spokesman told Wisden India.
