X-ray reports helping to curb over-age issues: Prof Ratnakar Shetty

"This (overage) issue is a menace in India, something which we need to fight against. According to Shetty, the BCCI disqualified many U-16 cricketers last year after they were found overage. "Last year the Delhi High Court passed a judgment that made X-ray tests compulsory along with birth certificates.

Eligibility
"The BCCI is following the same procedure and there were many cases in the U-16 category where players failed in the X-ray test. We should ensure that the players are within the age group. Those who are eligible should get a chance at the right age," he said.

The Mumbai leg of the tourney will have the top 24 teams, who participated in the Giles and Harris Shield inter-school tournaments, taking part along with four teams from Thane. u00a0
