Formeru00a0India all-rounder Yajurvindra Singh has applied to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to become a national selector.

Whether the current selection committee (Chairman Krishnamachari Srikkanth, Yashpal Sharma, Narendra Hirwani, Surendra Bhave and Raja Venkat) will continue, will be known during or at the end of the BCCI's Annual General Meeting in Mumbai next week.
Yajurvindra (59) played four Tests for India between 1977 and 1979 apart from being in the India squad for the 1979 World Cup. In a letter addressed to the BCCI president, Yajurvindra says, "Iu00a0 have had my innings as a player, a corporate executive for an automobile, cricket and IT company and as a selector. I feel my experience could be of benefit in adding value to our Indian cricket selection process and would therefore like to confirm my interest to consider me for the national selection committee this year."
Yajurvindra was chairman of the Maharashtra selection committee in 2003-04 and 2004-05. Yajurvindra's finest hour for India came on debut in the Bangalore Test against England in 1976-77 when he held seven catches to equal Greg Chappell's record of maximum catches in a Test. India won the game by 140 runs.
