Pakistan's run-away wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider will return home soon, according to his brother Aqeel Haider

Pakistan's run-away wicketkeeper Zulqarnain Haider will return home "soon", according to his brother Aqeel Haider.

In November last year, 24-year-old Zulqarnain left the Pakistan team in the middle of a series against South Africa in Dubai and fled to UK after claiming to have received threatening messages from unidentified persons.

Zulqarnain subsequently announced his retirement and sought asylum in Britain.

"My brother met the Interior Minister of Pakistan, Rehman Malik, at his residence in London last week and was assured of providing full security to our family and therefore Zulqarnain may return soon," Aqeel said.

Aqeel said his brother's application for asylum had not been rejected yet.

"No, it is still under process with the British government," he said.

"The minister listened to my brother and they discussed about the threats he received. The minister also asked Zulqarnain to return to Pakistan cricket."
