Powered by opener Amog Bhatkal's unbeaten 107-ball 149 (16x4, 4x6) and an impressive bowling spell from Rahul Sawant (6-21 runs in 8.5 overs), PJ Hindu Gymkhana beat Payyade Sports Club on the basis of a first innings lead in a rescheduled âA' division match of the 76th Dr HD Kanga Cricket League at the Hindu Gymkhana ground on Sunday.
Put into bat, Hindu Gymkhana punished the rival bowlers by scoring runs rapidly before declaring their first innings at 253 for 2 wickets in 35 overs. Besides Bhaktal's massive knock, Harsh Salunkhe made 70 to swell the total. Later, the PJ bowlers, backed by some brilliant fielding, dismissed Payyade for a mere 53 in just 22.5 overs. Sawant was well-supported by Atharva Bhosale, who claimed 2-7.
