Anant Solkar, the brother of late Test player, Eknath, passed away on Saturday evening. He was 72. Anant was a member of the 1981 Kanga League-winning PJ Hindu Gymkhana team, which also had the services of his famous brother. Anant was a product of the well-known LR Tairsee nets. He represented Tata Electric on the inter-office circuit apart from playing for Maharashtra and Railways in the Ranji Trophy.

"Goodbye, Aanyaa! Anant was an immensely talented cricketer, who enthralled all with his power-packed batting, fastish off-spin and brilliant fielding [a Solkar trait!]. He [Anant] would've been a top choice if IPL and T20 existed during his time," contemporary Hemant Kenkre wrote of his Tata Electric and Tata Sports Club teammate, on social media.
