A batting failure in the first innings and some bad luck dashed the Mumbai U-19 team's hopes on the last day of their Cooch Behar Trophy final against Haryana in Kolkata on Tuesday.

On a rain-marred day, Haryana scored 211-5 in the second innings to emerge champions by virtue of a first innings lead.

It was a crucial last day for the Mumbai colts at the Eden Gardens as the Nishant Sindhu-led Haryana outfit went into the final day on 77-1 with an overall lead of 211. However, due to rain, play started only after the lunch break. Thanks to India U-19 batsman Dinesh Bana (62 not out) and wicketkeeper-batsman Sarvesh Rohilla's unbeaten 28, Haryana scored 211-5 in the second innings before the game was called off after tea. Mumbai all-rounder Suryansh Shedge claimed 3-86 while pacers Prince Badiani and Arjun Dani took one wicket apiece. Mumbai captain Musheer Khan (670 runs and 32 wickets) was adjudged man of the tournament.
