The adjoining Mumbai Hockey Association (MHA) has demanded Rs 15 lakh from the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) for using their premises during the 20 IPL matches played at the Wankhede Stadium.
MCA secretary Sanjay Naik told Apex Council members in an email: "As you are aware the Mumbai Hockey Association provides its premises for the parking of vehicles and entry from Gate No.7 during all international and IPL matches played at the Wankhede Stadium."
"The MHA has requested Rs 15,00,000 as compensation to provide their premises for 20 IPL matches to be played at Wankhede Stadium. "On the advice of Hon'ble president [Dr Vijay Patil], we tried to negotiate with the MHA to reconsider the compensation amount. However, MHA has not agreed to reduce the amount."
The MCA has agreed to pay the amount. MCA will shell out close to Rs 70 lakh for using the Mumbai University ground near the Wankhede. The premises is used to park OB vans and entry to fans.
