Virat Kohli was the lone ranger as his second successive century powered Royal Challengers Bangalore to a challenging 197 for five in their must-win final IPL league game against Gujarat Titans on Sunday.
With the rain gods threatening to spoil RCB's play-off plans during the day, the match that started half an hour late saw Kohli (101 not out off 61 balls) bring back his 2016 avatar. He held all the aces during his knock that had 13 fours and a six.
His innings was priceless in the context that none of the other RCB batters could even reach 30 and just like the good old days, 'King Kohli' set the narrative by playing with line, length, and minds of the bowlers. This is his seventh IPL hundred and he has now surpassed Chris Gayle as the batter with the highest number of tournament tons.

RCB skipper Faf du Plessis continues to lead the Orange Cap charts with 702 runs from 13 innings while Yashasvi Jaiswal is in second place with 625 runs from 14 matches. Mohammed Shami, alongside Rashid Khan, dominates the first and second positions with 24 wickets from 14 innings.
The 52-day tournament has expectedly brought back all the intensity, rivalries, and buzz among cricket fans from across the globe. With some of the biggest names on the roster, this year's IPL will draw even more attention as it will be played on a home-and-away basis in India. The previous three IPL seasons suffered massive setbacks amid rising Covid-19 cases, with two seasons held in UAE and the last being restricted to Mumbai. Not only the sponsors incurred a huge loss amid restrictions due to the pandemic, but fans were also barred from attending matches. However, this time around, the excitement appears to be through the roof for both fans and sponsors as there will be no such limitations.
Without much ado, let's dwell on what the IPL 2023 Points Table looks like after Gujarat Titans beat RCB by six wickets.
