IPL 2024 has redefined the landscape of T20 cricket, witnessing a cascade of record-breaking moments. During Tuesday's clash between Delhi Capitals and Lucknow Super Giants, the ongoing season witnessed a remarkable feat: the highest number of sixes ever seen in a single edition of the lucrative league.
A staggering total of 20 towering maximums were struck during the electrifying encounter between DC and LSG. Ultimately, the Capitals emerged triumphant, clinching a 19-run victory.
This surge in sixes brings the cumulative count of maximums in the ongoing season to an unprecedented 1,125, eclipsing previous records. With several matches still left to be played, this number is poised to ascend even higher.
Comparatively, in the preceding season, the tally stood at 1,124 sixes, while in 2022, the ball soared into the stands 1,062 times. These statistics underscore a discernible trend towards aggressive batting and the ascendancy of batsmen in the league.
