Islam Gymkhana beat Wellington Cricket Club by a narrow four-run margin in the day-night final to emerge champions in the Madhav Mantri Centenary One Day League (for C and D divisions) at Mumbai Cricket Association's Bandra-Kurla Complex ground on Saturday.
Batting first, Islam Gymkhana posted 199-9 in the stipulated 40 overs.
Opener Mihir Agarwal scored 57 (6x4), while Bhavesh Patel, batting at No.7, contributed a crucial 28 runs. For Wellington CC, leg-spinner Vinayak Pillai claimed 3-25.
Wellington CC batted well too, thanks mainly to skipper Sagar Shah (63) and Prateek Gotsurve (35), but somehow fell short in the end and finished on 195-8.
