Shreyas Iyer en route his century
Mumbai registered their fourth successive Vijay Hazare Trophy win when they beat hosts Rajasthan by 67 runs in Jaipur on Saturday.
The architects of the triumph were India players - skipper Shreyas Iyer (116) and pacer Shardul Thakur, who claimed four for 50. Opting to bat at the KL Saini ground, Mumbai's Yashasvi Jaiswal (38), vice-captain Prithvi Shaw (36), Sarfaraz Khan (30) and Suryakumar Yadav (29) got starts, but failed to capitalise.
However, determined Iyer continued his form by scoring his second century of the tournament. He faced 103 balls in which he hit 11 fours and three sixes. In reply to Mumbai's 317-7, Rajasthan were bundled out for 250 in 42.2 overs. Thakur's four wickets included former India U-19 and Rajasthan skipper Ashok Menaria (20) and top-scorer Mahipal Lomror for 76.
In-form pacer Dhawal Kulkarni claimed 3-26. Leg-spinner Prashant Solanki and all-rounder Akash Parkar returned figures of 2-72 and 1-29 respectively.
Elite Group âD' table-toppers Mumbai now have 16 points in four games. They play their last league game against Himachal Pradesh on Monday.
