Hosts Assam were in a poor way on the penultimate day of their Group âB' Ranji Trophy clash against Mumbai at the Amingaon Cricket Ground here on Thursday.
They got bowled out for 370 in response to Mumbai's massive 687-4 declared and on following on, were gasping at 36-5 at stumps, trailing by 281 runs.
Left-arm spinner Shams Mulani, as was the case in earlier games, was Mumbai's hero with 4-111 while Test man Shardul Thakur, Mohit Avasthi and Tanush Kotian claimed two wickets apiece. Seventy-plus knocks came from the blade of Assam's Rahul Hazarika, Rishav Das and skipper Gokul Sharma.
In Assam's second innings, the first two mentioned were dismissed for single-digit scores while Sharma was unbeaten on seven. Thakur claimed three of the five wickets to fall and enjoyed amazing figures of 4-1-12-3 while Avasthi sent back openers Subham Mandal (0) and Hazarika (6).
