The Indian Premier League tournament began on April 9 in India but it had to be indefinitely postponed after few coronavirus cases occurred within the league. Players and staff members from Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad tested Covid-19 positive during the IPL 2021 season.
Following the rise in cases, the BCCI, earlier this month, suspended the IPL 2021 edition with no further dates announced. Many overseas players, who were initially in the country due to the lockdown, have now managed to reach their respective nations.
Mumbai Indians and New Zealand pacer Trent Boult is one such cricketer. As Trent Boult left India for his home, he shared a heartwarming post for the people in India on social media. He went on to thank everyone for all the love and memories during the IPL. He also said that he is looking forward to returning back to India when possible in the future.
The 31-year old pacer shared a couple of photos with his IPL team Mumbai Indians and wrote, "My heart goes out to the people of India, while I am sad to be leaving the @mumbaiindians family and see the IPL come to an end, none of that compares to the suffering many people are going through right now.."

Boult continued, "India is a place that has given me so much as a cricketer and person. I have always deeply appreciated the support that I've received from my Indian fans. This is a tragic time and I hope things can improve soon. I look forward to returning to this beautiful country when I can."
He concluded by asking Indians to look out for one another and stay strong. "Thank you again to the @mumbaiindians for getting us all home and going above and beyond to ensure health and safety was the priority for all of the players and families. Please take care, look after one another and stay strong - Kia kaha ðÂÂÂ," he wrote.
The MI pacer played 7 matches for the five-time champions and took 8 wickets averaging at 25.35 with best figures of 3/28.
