Karnataka humbled Mumbai by seven wickets as R Samarth scored an unbeaten 96 in an Elite Group âB' match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy here on Saturday.
Defending champions Mumbai managed to post 208-9 in the allotted 50 overs. Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal and wicketkeeper-batsman Hardik Tamore scored 61 and an unbeaten 46 respectively.
Suryakumar Yadav could not make much of an impression, falling for eight to leg-spinner Praveen Dubey (4-29). Karnataka secured a convincing win with 27 balls to spare.
Meanwhile in Group âA', leggie Abhishek Raut's fifer helped Odisha beat Vidarbha by six wickets at Thane's Dadoji Kondadev Stadium. Electing to field, Raut spun a web around opposition batters, registering figures of five for 36 to restrict Vidarbha to a below-par 148.
Skipper Subhranshu Senapati (71 not out) and Anurag Sarangi (52) then struck to guide Odisha home in 42 overs with four wickets in hand. In another Group âD' game in Rajkot, Maharashtra skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad slammed his third consecutive century, but his effort went in vain as they went down to Kerala by four wickets.

Continuing his blistering form, Gaikwad slammed 124 to help Maharashtra recover from early setbacks after losing two wickets for 22 inside six overs. Gaikwad along with Rahul Tripathi, who scored 99, helped Maharashtra post 291-8 in 50 overs.
In reply, Kerala were in a spot of bother at 4-35, but a composed Vishnu Vinod led the chase with an unbeaten 100.
