The sports fraternity went on to extend greetings to their fans as well as loved ones as India celebrated their 72nd Republic Day. Many personalities from the sports industry, past and present, went on social media to extend their wishes on Republic Day 2021.
Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli led the wishes as he shared an impactful message for Republic Day on Twitter, "The future depends on what we do today. Let's be the strength of our nation and help it reach greater heights. Wishing everyone a Happy Republic Day. Jai Hind."

Indian batting legend Sachin Tendulkar also wrote on Twitter, " May the timeless principles on which our great nation stands be our ever guiding light."
Suresh Raina wrote, "On the occasion of 72nd Republic Day, saluting every Indian who has strived to make our nation even better. Let us all be each other's strength in these trying times Raising hands #HappyRepublicDay2021. Love & light forever."
Former Indian opening batsman Virender Sehwag also had a lovely message on Republic Day. Sehwag wrote, "May the sun in his course visit no land more free, more happy, more lovely, more prosperous than our own Bharat. Earnest request to not throw away the flags after celebration. #HappyRepublicDay2021 Jai Hind Folded hands."
Ajinkya Rahane shared a photo from India's recent Test series win against Australia and wrote Happy Republic Day.
Republic Day is celebrated every year in the country on January 26 to commemorate the day the constitution of India came into effect. It was on this day in 1950 that India drafted and adopted their own laws.
