Sunil Gavaskar was born on July 10, 1949 in Mumbai. His full name was Sunil Manohar Gavaskar and his uncle was the famous Indian cricketer, Madhav Mantri

Sunny G shot to fame when he was named the Best Schoolboy Cricketer, at the age of 17!

Soon after, he was picked for the Mumbai Ranji team. After a slow start, Gavaskar immediately picked up and scored a series of tons

 Sunil Gavaskar's Test debut came against the mighty West Indies on March 6, 1971. In all, he played 125 Tests and amassed 10122 runs at an average of 51.12

Gavaskar was also involved in one of the most bizzare innings when he scored 36 runs off 174 deliveries against England in 1979

He was the first batsman to reach 10,000 Test runs. He achieved the feat in his 124th Test on March 7, 1987

Post retirement, Gavaskar served as a TV commentator and a columnist

He is originally the Little Master of Indian cricket
