Having won the toss, Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad opted to field first. Rachin Ravindra who was benched for a few IPL 2024 matches was renamed in the squad for the match against the Titans

Matthew Wade was included in the Gujarat Titans squad as Wriddhiman Saha was unavailable. Additionally, pacer Umesh Yadav and Kartik Tyagi made a return to the squad

Having needed to at first, the same lefty-righty duo Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill opened for GT. Later, what the Motera Stadium witnessed was absolutely a piece of a sensible batting display

The Gujarat duo milked 58 runs in the first powerplay, with Gill batting on 29 runs and Sudharsan shouldering him with 28 runs

Chennai bowlers were unable to find answers against the GT youngsters. Sudharsan-Gill continued to showcased their skills by smashing humongous strokes in the stands

Sai Sudharsan brought his fifty in style by smashing a six to Ravindra Jadeja in 8.3 over

Gill on the other hand showed calmness in his innings and reached the celebrated double figures in just 25 balls

CSK's pacer Tushar Deshpande dropped Shubman Gill's wickets in Daryl Mitchell's fourth over on 72 runs

Later, Gill made the most out of this opportunity and reached the three figures in style. After a mixed IPL season, Gill finally delivered a promising knock for his side

Sudharsan on the other hand too smashed a six and completed his century off the 50th ball

Soon after completing the century, Sudharsan mistimed it in the hands of Shivam Dube. His knock ended with a score of 103 runs off 51 deliveries including 5 fours and 7 sixes

The long stand between the openers came to an end. Sudharsan and Gill made a partnership of 210 runs in 17.2 overs

Shubman Gill too departed in the same over of Deshpande. In an attempt to cross the boundary line, Gill failed to smash it for a six and threw his wicket in Jadeja's hand. The hosts ended the first innings with a score of 231 runs for the loss of three wickets

Chennai Super Kings were seen misfielding and dropping catches which resulted them a target of 232 runs. The visitors also missed the services of Matheesha Pathirana, Deepak Chahar and Mustfizur Rahman

In the run-chase, Ajinkya Rahane and Rachin Ravindra entered in the middle but were unable to accumulate many runs. Both lost their wickets early as CSK were two runs for the loss of two wickets

Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad who has been in sensational form too departed on a duck

Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali tried their best to guide Chennai to the target of 232 runs against Gujarat Titans

Mitchell smashed 63 runs off just 34 balls which were laced with 7 fours and 3 sixes. Ali on the other hand, scored 56 runs in 36 balls. His knock included 4 fours and 4 sixes

Mohit Sharma was the man to help Gujarat secure the wickets of Mitchell and Ali. Mohit ended his spell after conceding 31 runs and bagged three wickets

Premier spinner Rashid Khan too registered two wickets for 38 runs

Umesh Yadav and impact player Sandeep Warrier had one wicket each to their names. Gujarat Titans won the IPL 2024 match against Chennai Super Kings by 35 runs
