Former English football striker Gary Linekar never received a yellow or red card throughout his career. He even got the FIFA Fair Play Award in 1990 for his clean game during his England career that spanned almost a decade - 1984 to 1992.

However, yesterday the former footballer-turned-TV pundit ironically received a red card for singing! Linekar joined hands, or rather voices, with Take That star Gary Barlow and a host of other celebrities including former Spice Girls Emma Bunton, Mel C, Girls Aloud's Kimberley Walsh, etc to croon England's official World Cup song.
However, so bad was Linekar's voice that Barlow decided to show him the 'red card' for it, albeit on a lighter note. Linekar (53) however, bragged about his singing talent, saying: "It was only a matter of time till my singing talent was picked up."
Other former English footballers Geoff Hurst, Glenn Hoddle, Michael Owen, etc were also part of the song but as background vocalists. Linekar and Barlow are among the lead singers for track that will be premiered on BBC today.
