David and mother Madonna
American star singer Madonna is facing a tough time in dealing with her adopted son David Banda's football schedule. The Material Girl hitmaker, who recently moved to Lisbon especially to help David, 12, become a football star, said that while she supports her son's career choice, the constant change in schedule makes it impossible to make her own plans.
"Being a soccer mum requires you to have no life in a way. It's impossible to make plans, and then you feel like you're not being fair to your other kids, or being fair to me!" Madonna, who has three other daughters, Mercy James and twins Stella and Esther, told magazine Vogue Italia in its latest issue.
David was picked by Portuguese club Benfica for its junior squad this year and Madonna felt it was a good time to relocate. "I've been desperate to get him into the best academies with the best coaches, but the level of football in America is much lower than the rest of the world. I saw his frustration, and I also felt it was a good time," she added.
