London: Manchester United players with their wives and girlfriends (WAGS) in tow made it a glamourous night as the Reds gathered at Old Trafford yesterday for the Player of the Year awards.

Manager Louis van Gaal's side was seen having some fun moments to celebrate the season's accomplishments, which included returning to the Champions League after a year away from the tournament. Wayne Rooney and wife Coleen led his teammates out on the red carpet even as Van Gaal was at his funniest best.
Funny Van Gaal
The 63-year-old Dutchman clipped assistant manager Ryan Giggs around the ear after the Welshman outbid him for a round of golf with former Man United striker Dwight Yorke during an auction at the event.

He then took to the stage to deliver a rambling seven-minute speech, at one point punching the air and roaring "Yes" as he recalled a team meeting at which captain Rooney had urged the team to push for second place in the English Premier League.
Van Gaal said that United (placed fourth in the EPL points table at the moment) had been "very close" to winning the title, despite the fact that they currently trailed champions Chelsea by a massive 15 points.

Gea the best
United goalkeeper David de Gea won both the Players' Player and Fans' Player of the Year awards for the second season running.
De Gea (24) who is yet to pen a new deal at United and is strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid, beat competition from the likes of Ashley Young and Juan Mata to be crowned champion.
